“I cannot remember a moment when science was so damaged by an emotional approach and where facts don’t count anymore”, emphasized COCERAL Secretary General Teresa Babuscio, speaking to a room of over 60 biostimulant experts. She shared her observations about the increasing difficulty to be understood in a world where fake news, tweets and unverified blog content often influences and impact policymakers more than actual scientific evidence.
Teresa Babuscio expressed her enthusiasm for the future of the biostimulant industry, a young and particularly innovative sector. She praised the industry for taking the initiative to advocate for a clear legal framework for bringing safe products to the market in a timely manner.
Dr Babuscio shared her experience in the agricultural sector and stressed the importance of rebuilding trust in science, communicating successfully with farmers, building alliances and investing in public affairs.
Teresa Babuscio is Secretary General of COCERAL, the European association of trade in cereals, rice, feedstuffs, oilseeds, olive oil, oils and fats and agro-supply. COCERAL represents the interests of the European collectors, traders, importers, exporters and port silo storekeepers of these agricultural products.
